Running it yourself
The components can also be bought outright.
We sell the hardware ready to run, and the software is open source either way. Nothing here is locked. Given the time and the inclination, running it in-house is a reasonable choice.
What an in-house build takes on.
Every machine is slightly particular about what it will accept and what it gives back, and the cabling matters more than anyone expects. Our own numbers fell to single digits on a bad cable and a slow connection before we found it, and the parts either side of AMI mattered more than we thought. The keyboard layout is US-only at present. None of it is difficult; all of it takes time.

Open source software under Apache-2.0, so there is nothing to
renew and nothing that stops working if we do.
Equipment bought from us ready to go, or sourced and prepared
in-house.
The measurement method, so the same numbers we take can be
taken on site.
